Full-Time Feminist

Feminist

Such an empowering title: feminist.

Allow me to repeat: feminist

It’s much more than this.

I have a duty, a purpose.

To mark my presence into this establishment

by the aggressive sound of my stilettos.

To place my ruby red nails on this frameless glass door

with ‘Ms’ imprinted in capitals.

To appreciate the range of choices opened to me.

Knowing I’m entitled to develop my destiny

into a reality without slightest criticism.

To feel aroused by the perfumed scent

of femininity in courtesy of Yves St. Laurent.

The word ‘Ms’ break out of my PA’s mouth

capture me in a bubble of everlasting pride.

That’s not all…

To watch the rest of my employees

scatter across the hallway,

engaging themselves in work assigned by me.

Because A Female boss can, and we WILL

continue to exist.

‘You’re a woman, weak and incapable’

Matt’s words to be precise, who just happens to be my PA.

Now, tell me if I’m incapable as your boss..?

Thought so.

And finally, to be able to sit behind my desk

(personally designed, of course) and catch a glimpse of this all.

From professional sidekick for misogynist Matt

to being co-founder of ‘feminist’

Being humble speaks volumes.

I am a Feminist.

About haringeyunchained

Haringey Unchained is a collective of students aiming to show case the creative talent of Haringey Sixth Form College in Tottenham, London. We think that through the promotion of our creative thoughts, we can educate our community, bringing to the foreground the critical and creative consciousness of a vibrant school in a deprived part of London. We are endeavouring to provide this blog as a platform for our community, giving the space to those whose work otherwise might not be seen or read. Being that the cuffs are off, we are able to express through our photography, art, short fiction and poetry, what’s really on our minds. We are free.
