This piece is called ‘fairytale dream’. It was inspired by a photographer named Amy Friend in her series ‘Dare Alla Luce: Bring to the Light,” a collection of vintage photographs, retrieved from a variety of sources both personal and anonymous. Through hand-manipulated interventions, I have altered and subsequently rephotographed the images. I also manipulated her methods, integrating them with my own. By showing off the city lights and streets with a gymnast and fairy lights around her body, I am combining the sitter’s form with that of the city around her – London – the city we live in.

We think that through the promotion of our creative thoughts, we can educate our community, bringing to the foreground the critical and creative consciousness of a vibrant school in a deprived part of London.
